Hessman has had 6 or 7 seasons in AAA, so of course he's gotten to the point where he is dominating. There are quite a few of these free agents out there, including Brad Eldred, Scott McClain, Chris Aguila, Jason Dubois, Val Pascucci and on and on and on. For the most part, all of them lack one key thing that has kept them from racking up large home run totals in the majors (see: Bucky Jacobsen). It's a different ballgame in the minors.

Sure, I wouldn't mind taking on one of these guys, but I wouldn't count on them contributing either.

Hoffpauir is interesting. I've mentioned him at BBT and he's old enough that he wouldn't cost much. Some people think Lee is on his way out for some reason though, so that could complicate things.

Wilson's been on and off the 40-man, but i'm glad they're protecting him. there are plenty of 'meh' players on our 40-man that can be left unprotected if we need the space, including Mike Morse and a few pitchers.

I hope he comes around. Abondoning switch hitting was a good start. If anything he could add power to the bench one day.
